This blog is about the famous Larry Dubey, and the journey he is about to embark on with family and friends following his accident that has left him with a spinal cord injury. He has been married for 26 years to Randi, both of whom are amazing parents to their two grown (sorta) kids, Lauren and Mitchell. He has a passion for life and learning unlike anything else in the world. People may know him as a father, husband, uncle, brother, son, superintendent, exercise nut, perfectionist, dog-lover, wine connaisseur, chocoholic, outdoorsman, story teller or problem solver. But everybody knows him asĀ an outstanding friend.
Lauren you are amazing!
Love, Lizlott
Ps. See you soon.
Thank you Lauren,
I am amazed. You guys are doing great. Give my best to all.

Dear Lauren, You have communicated in a way that has touched my heart. I am one of those fans you speak of that love your dad – Larry. He is the sweetest guy and has always been my friend. Like everyone else I am heart broken that he has to suffer this much trauma. You are just like your mom right now, incredibly strong and just like your dad right now, getting things done.
I have not called – yet – because I didn’t want to ask someone to explain all this to me but you just did and I thank you. Please tell your mom and dad that I love them very much. I will help in anyway I can. Email me if there is anything I can do right now. I will check this blog again for updates.
Lauren,
You are truly amazing. Thank you so much for putting this together and sharing your experience with such eloquence, warmth and insight. What happened to Larry has been so hard to grasp…impossible to grasp. I’ve always known him to be a beaming, soulful presence who has a way of touching everyone he meets. And I have full faith he will push forward with the strength, determination and positivity that are his core. I hope you and your family never feel alone on this journey. We share the confusion, the sadness, the hope and, of course, our love of Larry. Please let me know how I can best support you along the way.
You’re in my heart and prayers,
–Jamie
Uncle D, I think about you every day. There are so many things in my daily life that have been touched and influenced by you – NPR upon waking, good coffee (made the LD way – black and strong!), working hard at something I love, cooking and enjoying good food, drinking a fine glass of wine, and hiking on the weekends with my friend and her dog. I know you will be well, strong, and successful through all of this. It sucks, but at some point we’re all white dogs in a dirty world – just trying to make it the best we know how. I love you, Randi, Lauren, Mitch, Milo and even Daisy (she’s a bit old and mean now); anything you need, anything the family needs, all you have to do is ask… Love, Shannon
Larry … you are the diamond shining in a goats ass. Wish nothing but the best for you. The jobs just not the same without you … the laugh the story the smile.
Hi Lauren, Just heard about your dad and read the blog. Your writing and keeping everyone informed is great. I’m really at a loss for words. I simply want to tell you and your parents that I am thinking about you and want to help anyway I can. I live close to your house and am a dog lover. Let me know what I can do. Love to you and your parents.

Larry dearest Larry, my brother and old friend.
What sorrowful news to hear of your accident.
I have been saying daily healing prayers for you and I have a candle burning for you on my altar – you and Obama
I am grateful that you have such a wonderful family and strong support system.
Just remember that there are folks up here in Sonoma also sending you the Light.
I have such fond memories of our creative youth together and building Evolution
Arts – we made a difference! I also remember how athletic and daring and handsome, you were quite a force!
I agree with your daughter, if anyone is going to make a recovery, it will be you.
Please know that you are in my thoughts with much affection, respect and Love.

I know of Larry’s extraordinary love through the ‘Kalama’ part of the clan…
Last summer while there ‘Dubinski’ (Steve) and I had our stoke on, we were heading towards the surf, a great mood prevailing…
‘I Phone’ rings, it was Larry…
the change of atmosphere so strong, unconditional, undeniable…
you made him Glow…
then Steven told me about you
You have a love few can even imagine…

I met Larry approximately 6 weeks ago while walking on Malibu Road Beach. He was walking with Milo and I had my Golden Retreiver Harley with me and we just struck up a conversation and walked together for about 20 minutes. He stated that he was a contractor working on a home nearby. When I introduced myself and then he said his name was Larry Dubey, I said ya right. How much S___ did you get for that name in High school. Larry and I are around the same age. We had a laugh and then he proceeded to tell me that he typically was called by his last name even with his sister/family. I found out about Larry’s injury by receiving the Revolution Fitness newsletter. I am deeply saddened and yet hopeful. It unusual yet so refreshing to meet a total stanger and have such a nice visit. My best to your Family and please give Larry my best. Ron from Malibu
Larry & the darling Dubey family,
Just heard by phone from Sara & stumbled on this website…there sure are a lot of people who care about y’all.
Larry, you haven’t had the last laugh yet & you sure haven’t given us our last.
From what I’ve seen, wimps don’t seem to get challenges like yours – mostly it’s the playing field that has changed. There’s a steep persistent climb ahead, which I believe you’ll be up to…and, as always, you are earning the loving folks who’ll be there to aid you.

i should have known something was wrong. As he & I shared birthdays he would always call and say hi. this year he didnt. i am just stunned by the news. it tells you something about his character that he would stay in touch with a business associate that needed him more than he needed me.
My best prayers to him and to his family. Its just devastating to hear about something like this happening to such a class act.
Get well soon, the world needs more Larry D’s !

To the very much loved Dubeys,
We are taught to believe that things happen for a reason, and that God has other plans for us. When bad things happen to good people, our faith in that belief is put to test. Know that our entire family has you all in our prayers. We have never forgotten all that you did and meant to Mercedes, and to our entire family. I am sure she is up there cheering for you Larry. Know that we all love and care about you.
Love,
Claudia, Jose & Rebecca Avendano
Larry, really nice to see the picure of you out at the zoo….really happy to see your smile…we had such fun at the Irish Times party…the turn out is a testimony to the people you have touched….peace David Reed
Dear Larry,
